Our show, "Highland Fusion," on July 8th at the Gaelic College, will feature award-winning performances of dances that combine the ancient traditions of highland dance with the stories of Canadian history and culture. From the building of the nation, to a remembrance of our soldiers, from a celebration of French heritage to a showcase of feminine strength, this show captures the spirit of our roots in a contemporary style.
Caithream Celtic Dance Fusion is a dance company based in Ottawa, which combines the traditions of highland dancing with a fusion of modern dance styles. The Company leads the Canadian movement to modernize this Scottish dance form, while honoring its historic integrity.
Caithream Celtic Dance Fusion was founded in 2002, by Ottawa dancers Andrée Charlebois and Jenn Macquarrie, as a professional performance company. The Company's members, coming from a variety of artistic backgrounds, are selected from several of Ottawa's top dance schools. Since its inception, the Company has produced two full-length shows each season, as well as being hired for numerous performances in Ottawa, Canada, and abroad.
The Company's goal is to lead a revolution in the dance world by defying conventional categorizations. Through the fusing of styles such as highland, jazz, contemporary dance, and traditional dances of many cultures, we are creating a new form of dance that is uniquely Canadian. |
