Early in the year, Jeanie Campbell - a member of the Gaelic College Foundation Board of Governors offered to weave a tartan throw in a tartan of the winners choice as a prize for a fund-raising raffle in support of the Gaelic College Pipe Band.

Not only did Jeanie weave the throw but during the entire summer she faithfully attended ceilidhs and other events to sell tickets on the throw. She raised over $2000 for the band.

The winning ticket belonged to Shane Ryan, a native Cape Bretoner [now a resident Fort McMurray, Alta] who was a student at the College. He chose the Cape Breton tartan to remind him of home.

The picture shows Jeanie with the throw just before it was sent to Shane. Jeannies' efforts are really appreciated by the Band and all of us here at the College.

The band is 2005 Atlantic Canadian Champions - Grade 3 and placed second in the North American Championships.
